We have begun the re-packing. Two bags had not really survived the trip east and will be replaced with some fancy hand-me-downs from the grandparents.
Due to the delay we were unable to stay in the same apartment in downtown Tokyo, but will be in an exciting area of the city, near the huge Meiji shrine in Shibuya-Ku. The adventure is about to begin.
The children did a last show for V and O tonight. An abbreviated version of an earlier show, in this case mostly with dancing to the music of various philadelphia chicken songs. The previous version had had piano playing interspersed.
Lukas did tell a joke. It was the joke about the Panda who walks into a bar, orders some bamboo, then gets a gun and fires wildly, and when the bartender asks why he did it, tells him that he should look it up in the dictionary, and leaves. The bartender then looks up in the dictionary under Panda, and it says that Panda, eats bamboo shoots and leaves. Except that Lukas changed the animal to a cow who orders milk, with the punchline being 'cow, drinks milk shoots and leaves'. The audience thought it was quite clever. Lukas felt so encouraged that he then started into a stream of consciousness joke in which the main characters were a guitar and a trumpet. I guess he knew he was kind of rambling as he felt the need to say that 'this part is really funny'. It ended up with the trumpet going toot, and Lukas saying 'get it, get it'. The audience did get it, and the show went on with a stream of consciousness dance to the tune of philadelphia chickens.
